Acupuncture for Allergies

An allergy is an abnormal reaction, triggered by the immune system, to certain substances, such as pollen, dust, food or medication. Conventional medical treatments include antihistamine, nasal decongestant spray or cortisone-based inhalers. While these drugs may relieve the symptoms of allergies, they do not eliminate the root cause of the illness. Often, use of steroids depletes the immune system.

Acupuncture is non-invasive, gentle and painless. It is also the most effective and deepest healing method for the elimination of allergies and allergy-related conditions. The modern scientific explanation is that acupuncture stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the body that influence the body’s own internal regulating system. This strengthens the body’s resistance and balances the body’s antigen-antibody reaction to relieve allergies as well as asthma and sinusitis. Acupuncture is an excellent complementary and alternative treatment option for allergic diseases including asthma and sinusitis. This is because it focuses on diagnosing and treating both the symptoms and the root cause of the imbalance.

Acupuncture

  • detoxifies the body and strengthens the immune system and the adrenal gland, allowing the body to reap substantial long-term health benefits in terms of managing allergies.
  • is a holistic treatment that also addresses any related imbalance in health, as well as emotional and spiritual causes of allergies.
  • is a unique individual and personalized approach. Each patient has a different configuration of symptoms, and the treatment is designed to be very specific to, and appropriate for, each individual.

At Acupuncture of Dallas clinic, we have extensive medical training and experience treating many different allergies and allergic reactions, including seasonal allergies, food allergies, asthma and chronic sinusitis.  We are very familiar with the complexities of allergies and allergy-related symptoms, and is committed to providing the highest standard of comprehensive, personalized treatment. Always seeking more deeply rooted indications in each patient, she selects acupuncture points that strengthen organ function, rid the body of unhealthy excess symptoms and bring nourishment to any deficient areas. It is not unusual for patients to find relief during the first visit, while lying on the exam table. Usually, after two to four treatments, patients’ symptoms greatly decrease.  We also focus on the treatment of allergy-related conditions such as digestive disorders, immune dysfunction, unexplained pains, depression and emotional stress, which can all be related to an underlying allergy.

After allergy symptoms are effectively managed, we address long-range management and elimination, which might include: dietary and lifestyle modifications such as minimizing consumption of – or avoiding – dairy products, cold and iced drinks, and excessively sweet or spicy foods; the cessation of smoking and alcohol consumption; and getting plenty of rest to avoid fatigue.  We truly believe that healthy habits will address allergies more efficiently and produce longer lasting results.  We also prescribe specific herbal formulas and suggests acupuncture once or twice a year – before the occurrence of what used to be the patient’s allergy seasons – to strengthen the immune system.  Many of our patients have drastically reduced or completely eliminated their need for medications and/or allergy shots.

Acupuncture of Dallas welcomes your concerns and needs; we want to work with you to enhance your quality of life.  Our goal is to offer you innovative, comprehensive care, and to help you breathe easier, season after season.
